Le'Veon Bell injury update: Jets running back's MRI reveals no damage to shoulder, report says image

Jets running back Le'Veon Bell had an MRI on Thursday that revealed no major damage or tears, according to ESPN, which cited unidentified sources.

Bell, however, revealed "great news" later.

He said, via Twitter, his shoulder "is fine so no worries" and that he and the team "just had to make sure everything was ready to go for Monday night."

After sharing the news of quarterback Sam Darnold's absence in Monday's game against the Browns because of mono, coach Adam Gase told reporters that Bell is experiencing shoulder pain that will force him to miss practice Thursday.

Gase did express some optimism that the injury might not be anything serious.

"This could be just soreness," Gase said. "We don't think it's anything worse than that, but we're probably being a little extra cautious."

In his first game with the Jets since signing a four-year, $52.5 million deal during the offseason, Bell had 17 carries for 60 yards in Week 1's loss to the Bills. He also had six catches for 32 yards and a touchdown.

If Bell does miss time to let his shoulder recover, Ty Montgomery is next in line on New York's depth chart.

The Jets have been hit hard with injuries this season as linebacker C.J. Mosley (groin issue) and defensive end Quinnen Williams (sprained ankle) are both in question for Week 2 and will not practice Thursday. Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa is also out for the season with a neck injury.

“We’re running out of bodies,” Gase said.
