The Las Vegas Raiders took part in their second practice of training camp on Thursday, and so continued the quarterback competition between Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew.
By all accounts, it wasn't a great day for either signal-caller, as both struggled with their respective reps. However, there were at least some good moments for both Minshew and O'Connell.
The biggest difference between the two was that Minshew threw a pair of picks — safeties Marcus Epps and Tre'von Moehrig were responsible for them — while O'Connell did not throw any.
"Both Minshew and O'Connell were inconsistent today, but at least O'Connell avoided turnovers," The Athletic's Tashan Reed wrote. "While Minshew is better at improvising, there's inherently more risk with that play style. He has to produce more splash plays for it to be worth it. That hasn't happened yet."
AOC wasn’t much better that period. 1 for 4. Last lob to Doss in corner was caught out of bounds.

Minshew was 3 of 5 with a rollout pass to Mayer. But 2 picks on the day. https://t.co/tm3ZM1bX5V
According to Logan Reever of 8 News Now, Minshew saw the field with the first-team offense first, which was a change from Wednesday when O'Connell saw the field before Minshew. Clearly, the plan is to alternate the quarterbacks.
