The Las Vegas Raiders will play a second-place schedule in 2024 after a 2023 campaign in which they went 8-9 and just missed the playoffs following a strong finish after the firing of former head coach Josh McDaniels.
While having a second-place schedule would seem to indicate that things may not be too hard for Las Vegas, that is not the case when it comes to their 2024 slate of games.
Per Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, who calculated strength of schedules based on projected 2024 win totals from Vegas oddsmakers, the Raiders actually have the ninth-hardest strength of schedule in the NFL.
Only one team in the AFC West has a tougher slate, with the Denver Broncos owning the eighth-toughest in the league. The Los Angeles Chargers are blessed with the second-easiest strength of schedule, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs' own the 12th-easiest slate.
Among AFC teams, the Raiders own the eighth-most difficult schedule.
The Raiders' 2024 opponents have been set since the end of the season, but we don't know the exact order of which they'll face those opponents. Reports suggest the 2024 schedules might be released on Thursday, May 9, but that date has not been confirmed by the league.
As a reminder, here's who the Raiders will face this coming season:
Home opponents (8): Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars
Away opponents (9): Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams
