The Las Vegas Raiders have a roster capable of competing for a playoff spot in 2024, but does Pro Football Focus agree with that notion in its roster rankings?
PFF's Jim Wyman and Dalton Wasserman ranked the Raiders' roster 23rd in the NFL, ahead of the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans but below the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings.
Additionally, Wyman and Wasserman ranked Vegas' roster as the second best in the AFC West. Here is what the pair had to say about the Silver and Black:
Aidan O’Connell is a big question mark for this team. If he plays at even an average level, the Raiders could surprise this upcoming season. The defensive line looks to be very imposing, and O’Connell isn’t going to lack weapons on offense, as the team returns Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers while featuring a two-headed monster at tight end.
The AFC West looks relatively thin outside of the defending champion Chiefs, so don’t be too surprised if the Raiders can take advantage.
The Raiders added talent on both sides of the ball this offseason. Though the roster is improved from last year, the sentiment remains the same in Las Vegas: the defense will be good but the quarterback situation will make or break the season.
Whether it's Aidan O'Connell or Gardner Minshew under center, the Raiders need competent quarterback play if they want to return to the postseason for the first time since 2021.
