The Las Vegas Raiders wrapped up their fifth practice of training camp on Tuesday, meaning we got to see the quarterback battle between Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew in action once again. Tuesday's practice was eventful, as the team put on shoulder pads for the first time since the end of the 2023 campaign.
Though O'Connell and Minshew put together their best practices of camp on Tuesday, neither really separated themselves from the other.
According to Tashan Reed of the Athletic, O'Connell got most of the first-team reps after Minshew received the majority of them on Monday. Reed added that O'Connell was better on Tuesday, but neither quarterback was great.
"Aidan O'Connell took most of the starting snaps at QB today after Gardner Minshew got the majority of the starting reps on Monday," Reed said. "O'Connell was a little better today, but neither player performed well."
Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal stated that both quarterbacks had nice moments, as the offensive line gave the signal caller's time to throw.
"Aidan O'Connell & Gardner Minshew with nice moments today. The offensive line fully engaging now that the pads are on has given the Raiders QB's time to throw," he wrote. "O'Connell had a nice completion to Jakobi Meyers and Minshew connected with Brock Bowers on a 20-yard crosser."
Tuesday's practice was a step in the right direction for Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew, but neither quarterback has been impressive. As August nears, the Raiders' question marks at quarterback continue to grow.
