One of the more notable takeaways from Day 2 of Las Vegas Raiders organized team activities was the hype that 2024 sixth-round pick and running back Dylan Laube drew from those on the ground.
Now, let me preface all this by saying that we can never read too much into the hype a player draws while running around in shorts and a t-shirt in May. More often than not, early hype for a late-round draft pick turns out to be nothing.
However, it is at least worth noting that Laube impressed those watching him on Tuesday, which is more than most sixth-round picks can say.

We even got a Christian McCaffrey reference for Laube. I'd say we need to pump the brakes on that one, but he does move well and his routes look solid from what we can see in the video below.

One X account, SCOUTD, believes Laube is going to be a weapon in the passing game for the Raiders. Levi Edwards of Raiders.com retweeted that and said that Laube "had a pretty solid day" during the first open session of OTAs.
Not going to lie, he had a pretty solid day today. https://t.co/IC9qVC8JzQ

"High, high give a darn meter," special teams coordinator Tom McMahon said of the rookie.
Laube had a productive career during his days at New Hampshire and flashed his ability to impact a game both on the ground and through the air. In fact, he had one contest in 2023 where he tallied a whopping 12 receptions for 295 yards and three total touchdowns, which is impressive at any level of football.
It's doubtful Laube will be able to surpass Zamir White or Alexander Mattison on the depth chart in 2024, but the spots behind those two — however many there may be — are up for grabs.
On top of his prowess as a running back and receiver, Laube also has experience in the return game, which is another avenue for him to make the roster and carve out a role for himself in 2024.
The deck is always stacked against late-round picks making the cut and panning out, so we shouldn't get too crazy over Laube at this very early stage.
But if he can continue to stack good days like the one he had on Tuesday and offer some versatility as a special teamer, he'll be in a great position to land on the initial 53-man roster.
