The Las Vegas Raiders began training camp on Wednesday morning without two of their offensive linemen in left tackle Kolton Miller and 2024 second-round pick and guard, Jackson Powers-Johnson.
Both players were placed on the active/physically unable to perform list to start camp, but they can be activated at any time. Miller is working his way back from offseason shoulder surgery and JPJ suffered a shoulder injury during the offseason program.
Thankfully, neither player is dealing with a serious injury, as general manager Tom Telesco revealed on Thursday before practice. He also noted that Powers-Johnson should be back in the "short term" but it might be a few more weeks for Miller.
#Raiders GM Tom Telesco addressed the status of G Jackson Powers-Johnson (shoulder) and OT Kolton Miller (shoulder) before practice today. He said Powers-Johnson should be back in the "short term." He's hopeful Miller can return in "a couple weeks."

Miller is reprising his role as the starting left tackle in 2024. His missing time in camp isn't a big concern because of his experience, but his status is obviously worth monitoring moving forward considering how important he is to the team.
The impact of missing time in camp is a different story for a rookie like JPJ, who is vying for the starting role at left guard. He has already missed a ton of reps after his absence during the offseason program, and this could stunt his growth.
The Raiders hit the practice field for their second session of training camp on Thursday. They'll be back at it again on Friday.
