The Las Vegas Raiders are in desperate need of help at the cornerback position after the team placed veteran corner Brandon Facyson on injured reserve, which will force him to miss at least the first four games of the 2024 season.
In response to that, the Raiders have signed veteran cornerback Darnay Holmes, the team announced on Wednesday. The length of financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
A former fourth-round pick of the New York Giants, Holmes appeared in 54 games (11 starts) over four seasons with Big Blue. He was part of the team's roster cuts on Tuesday.
Holmes is already familiar with Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, who he played under from 2020-21. In 2023, Holmes surrendered a completion rate of 75% and a passer rating of 64.6 in coverage, where he also posted a Pro Football Focus grade of 68.7.

Holmes does have some experience playing on the boundary (135 snaps) but the vast majority of his work has come from the slot (1,156 snaps). Even still, he provides some much-needed veteran depth for Las Vegas.
