One of the bigger surprises so far this offseason for the Las Vegas Raiders has been the performance of 2024 sixth-round pick and running back Dylan Laube, who continues to be among the biggest standouts of the offseason program.
Laube has particularly shined as a pass-catcher and has even received some first-team reps. But he has also displayed versatility with his work as a kick returner, which only increases his value and gives him a better shot to make the roster.
But Laube hasn't just caught the attention of beat writers attending practice, he's also stood out in the eyes of his coaches, which is even more important for his hopes of making the team.
On Wednesday before minicamp practice, Raiders running backs coach Cadillac Williams heaped praise on the rookie and believes he has "a bright future."
"I think he has a bright future. He's wise beyond his years. He shows up like a vet," Williams said, according to Levi Edwards of Raiders.com. "He can take what he learns from the classroom and apply it on the field.
"He's always going to be in the right spots. Got really good hands, quick, explosive. Just a very cerebral player that can do a lot of things."

Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy noted how Laube has stood out and credited his ability to pick things up quickly to his work ethic.
"This guy in college lined up as a slot receiver, as an outside receiver, in the backfield. He did all those things," Getsy said. "And, really, I've been most impressed with the knowledge part of it and how quickly he's able to pick up everything.
"We kind of didn't hold back from these guys, we really wanted to challenge them as much as we could in this phase of it, because it's OK to fail right now, and then when you get to training camp and you start going. So, we really threw a lot at these guys and he's someone who really stepped up to the challenge and you wouldn't know he just got here. I think that's a credit to him and his work ethic."
With the way things are going, not only does Laube have a great shot to make the roster out of training camp, he may also be able to carve out a bigger role than expected in his first year.
