We have an update on the Las Vegas Raiders' salary cap space ahead of the 2024 NFL season after the contract details for offensive lineman Andrus Peat were revealed.
According to Over the Cap, Peat's one-year deal is worth $2 million and carries an overall cap charge of $2.23 million. Peat's deal includes just $450,000 in fully guaranteed money thanks to a signing bonus.
With Peat's deal now on the books, the Raiders are sitting with $13.1 million in effective cap space (the cap space a team will have after signing at least 51 players and its projected rookie class to its roster), also per Over the Cap. That total ranks 15th in the NFL.
While that's not a ton of cap space, it does leave room for the Raiders to make at least one more significant signing. Also bear in mind that Las Vegas will have about $24 million more freed up after June 1, when Jimmy Garoppolo's money comes off the books.
As far as Peat is concerned, head coach Antonio Pierce revealed the plan is for him to work at guard, so he could factor into the starting competition. Pierce also noted that Peat would provide depth behind Kolton Miller at left tackle. The veteran lineman has played left guard for most of his career but started at left tackle in 2023.
At Day 2 of OTAs, the Raiders had Dylan Parham at right guard and Jackson Powers-Johnson and Cody Whitehair both saw reps on the left side. We'll see if Peat gets a shot to win either job.
