Kyler Murray: Cardinals offense 'got predictable' in Week 3 loss to Panthers image

The Cardinals dropped to 0-2-1 after its 38-20 loss to the Panthers in Week 3, and quarterback Kyler Murray critiqued Arizona's offense after the game.

The rookie QB believes the Cardinals can be effective but admitted they got monotonous against the Panthers.

“I think we can move the ball regardless,” Murray told reporters Sunday, via the team's website. “It just got predictable in the end.”

That certainly appeared to be the case, as Murray was sacked eight times by Carolina. He completed 30 of his 43 throws but for only 173 yards and finished with a 57.5 quarterback rating.

Although the Cardinals ran 14 more plays than the Panthers, they totaled 165 fewer yards on offense, averaging just 3.4 yards per play. They struggled to open up the field and make big plays.

But Murray insists things were going well before they "got down," as Arizona trailed by only four points at the half and eight points through three quarters.

“You saw what we did in the first half,” Murray said. “Everything was all there, it was easy. Even though they were not letting us get behind them (for deep shots), we did whatever we wanted to pretty much.”

To his credit, Murray did enter the fourth quarter 28-of-37 passing for 162 yards with two touchdowns, before his team was held scoreless in the final period. But there's certainly room for improvement.

Much was made of the college-style offense first-year coach Kliff Kingsbury has begun to install in Arizona this season, but the team been a bottom-10 offensive team in 2019.

Murray has thrown for 830 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions, producing the bulk of his team's yardage.

The Cardinals will face a stingy defense in Week 4, as they host Seattle at 4 p.m. ET Sunday in an attempt to get their first win.
