With the rookie minicamp starting, all eyes will be on first-round pick, Michael Penix Jr., however, one of the questions from reporters was centered around starting quarterback Kirk Cousins and his recovery. Head coach Raheem Morris assured that Kirk Cousins is "every day improving" as we get closer to the next phase of the offseason.
"He's doing everything we can at phase two. There's no contact, there's no one around him...he's been throwing and pretty much full-go...with Kirk, we'll limit the amount [of work he can do] and not what he's doing...because the pace is so slow, we're comfortable where he's at right now."
Cousins is still actively recovering from an Achilles tear that ended his 2023 season with the Minnesota Vikings. The Falcons expect a major year from Cousins as they rely on him to help Atlanta make the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Before we can get there, the Falcons must continue to manage Cousins' injury and ensure that the soon-to-be-36-year-old is ready to go through OTAs and training camp to be the best version of himself for the 2024 season.
