The Seattle Seahawks hosted free agent wide receiver Kadarius Toney for a visit today, according to a report by Field Yates at ESPN. Toney (6-foot-0, 193 pounds) played his college career at Florida, where he put up 984 yards and 10 touchdowns in a surprise breakout Senior season in 2020.
While it was a small sample size, what he did that season was good enough to make Toney a first-round draft pick by the New York Giants the following year. Toney has yet to really make an impact at this level, though. He spent two years with the Giants, followed by two more with the Kansas City Chiefs, but so far Toney has only totaled 760 yards and three touchdowns in his career (32 games).
Still, Toney does have some ability and the Seahawks have always been willing to kick the tires on players who may have been cast off from other places but were highly-touted coming into the league. This team is very deep at receiver though, so if Toney winds up signing, there's a good chance he would end up on the practice squad.
Free agent QB also visits the Seahawks
In related news, the Seahawks also worked out free agent quarterback Josh Love, according to James Larsen at PFN. Love (6-foot-2, 203 pounds) played his college ball at San Jose State, where he showed improvement each year. His final season was in 2019, when he totaled almost 4,000 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions. His QB rating for the year was a career-high 141.2.
Love went undrafted after his college days and has yet to appear in a live NFL game. He was most recently with the Carolina Panthers on their practice squad back in 2021. Since then Love has been playing in the USFL.
Plus another wide receiver visits
The team also reportedly brought in free agent wide receier Kaden Davis for a visit, according to Jordan Schultz.
Davis (6-foot-1, 193 pounds) was a D2 standout at Northwest Missouri State. He caught 10 touchdowns and totaled 714 yards for them in 2021. He has spent time with the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals and the Detroit Lions, who waived him last week ahead of roster cutdown day.
More
According to Howard Balzer, it was an incredibly busy day for the Seahawks front office, who brought in a total of seven free agents for visits. In addition to Toney, Love and Davis, the full list also includes defensive lineman Quinton Bohanna, defensive ends Kenneth Odumegwu and Tramel Walthour plus tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden.
