Why, Eagles, why?
The Eagles' organization is in turmoil right now: Doug Pederson was fired, Carson Wentz was traded and new head coach Nick Sirianni is playing rock-paper-scissors and trash-talking NFL Draft prospects.
Some people were scratching their heads when LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson wasn't selected with the No. 21 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, opting for TCU's Jalen Reagor instead.

Fortunately for Jefferson, he doesn't have a front-row seat for any of Philly's drama, and he is very, very glad about that. In an interview with GQ Magazine, Jefferson said he was pretty sure the Eagles were going to pick him, but ultimately is glad that's not how it happened.
Leading up to the draft, you know, they had all of those mock drafts and people sharing their opinions on who is going to go where. A lot of people had me going to Philly. And, I thought I was going to Philly. Honestly. The funny part is, Philly was on the board and then Minnesota called me. At first, I thought it was Philly. But, I answered the phone and it was Minnesota. It's crazy how all of that happened and everything. But, I'm definitely, definitely, definitely excited that I'm on the Vikings rather than Philly.
Jefferson would also say that games against the Eagles would be "edgier" considering that Philadelphia passed on him.
The Eagles ended up taking wide receiver Raegor at No. 21 in 2020, and he had an OK rookie season (11 games, 396 yards, one touchdown). It paled in comparison to the numbers that Jefferson put up — he went for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns in 2020 with Minnesota.
Jefferson was selected just one pick after Raegor, and the rest is history.
The Eagles seem to be rolling with Jalen Hurts at quarterback for the 2021 season, while the Vikings will be running it back once more with Kirk Cousins. One season does not a career make, but so far it looks like (and feels like) Jefferson got the better end of the deal.
