The quarterback room for the Pittsburgh Steelers will look quite different this year.
After a few years in quarterback limbo, the Steelers brought in two starting quarterbacks in the offseason whose team’s had moved on from in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
As things stand, it looks as though Wilson holds the keys to the top spot on the depth chart, but given Fields’ explosive playmaking ability, anything could happen between now and the start of the season.
Despite the quasi-quarterback competition taking place throughout minicamp, Fields expressed that his relationship with Wilson had gotten off to a stellar start in Pittsburgh.
“It’s been great. Just learning from him every day,” Fields told reporters. “Everything he does. The way he acts around his teammates. He’s been great. A great teammate to me. A great mentor to me. It’s awesome having a guy like Russell in the room and getting to learn from him.”

Fields’ comment feels like good news for Steelers fans. After years of shuffling between middling quarterbacks, the team can now choose between two proven NFL talents, and both of them seem to be getting along pretty well.
The Steelers will get to test their new offense for the first time on September 8, when they travel to take on the Atlanta Falcons on the road to open their 2024 season.
