Report: Bruce Arians wants suspensions for penalty-related injuries image

If Cardinals coach Bruce Arians had his way, Broncos tight end Julius Thomas wouldn't see the field for at least three weeks.

Arians is angry at Thomas for his illegal chop block on Cardinals defensive lineman Calais Campbell during Denver's 41-20 win Sunday. The block resulted in a sprained MCL for Campbell.

Campbell will be out three to four weeks; Arians believes Thomas should have to sit for just as long.

The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers tweeted about Arians' desire for the injury-based suspension.

Pro Football Talk reports that Arians also believes "Thomas purposely planned to take Campbell out for the game with the hit." Thomas told USA Today after the game he had no such motive.

"I guarantee that being dirty is not a part of my game, and to intentionally hurt somebody is not something I would ever do," Thomas was quoted as saying.

The play resulted in a 15-yard penalty and negated a long touchdown pass to Emmanuel Sanders.
