Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, calling Josh Brown "our brother," doesn't think the suspended kicker should be released from the team because of his alleged domestic abuse.

“Why should he be cut?” Pierre-Paul said Monday (via the New York Daily News) when asked about the possibility.

When a reporter responded with the domestic abuse allegations, Pierre-Paul responded, “Who knows. You wasn’t there.”

The Giants largely have been quiet about Brown, who under the NFL's personal conduct policy regarding domestic violence has been suspended for the Giants' regular-season opener Sept. 11 against the Cowboys. Brown's ex-wife detailed a history of domestic violence in a 2015 police report.

The team on Monday signed kicker Randy Bullock to a one-year deal.

Giants coach Ben McAdoo didn't have anything to say publicly about Brown's suspension: "I've said everything I have to say on the Josh Brown situation."

However, Pierre-Paul — who said he hasn't spoken directly to Brown since the allegations — referred to the kicker as part of the Giants family.

“We’re all family around here," Pierre-Paul said. "People have their own problems they handle. He’s still our brother and we look past it. We’re going to need him.”
