Redskins tight end Jordan Reed claims he knew he suffered a concussion two weeks ago in a 16-10 win against the Ravens and stayed in the game anyway.
Reed, who said he withheld the injury from trainers initially, was held out of last week's game against the Eagles and is questionable this week. Reed did manage to work out in independent drills Wednesday.
WEEK 7 PICKS: Straight up | Against the spread
“I got hit in the back of the head. I kinda kept it to myself," Reed said, via The Washington Post. "I had a feeling, I was feeling it throughout the game, but I kept playing. … Had a pretty bad headache.
"The next day, I was feeling all right, then I was doing some exercises and I started to feel it worse.”
Reed is no stranger to concussions, which is why the Redskins will have to be extra cautious with their tight end. Reed has suffered five concussions throughout his college football and NFL careers.
“It’s frustrating that I’ve been dealing with it so often, but I try not to think about it too much, take it as it comes and take it day by day,” Reed said. “[My family members] are always going to show concern and stuff like that because they care more about my health than anything, but I’ve got to take care of my family, so I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do."
After breaking out with 87 catches for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns last season in just 14 games, Reed proved he's one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the league. However, this is Reed's fourth NFL season and he has yet to complete one without missing games.
