The bizarre saga of Johnny Manziel keeps getting weirder, as his lawyer accidentally broke news of the former NFL quarterback's plans in a domestic violence case.

Manziel's defense attorney, Bob Hinton, sent a text message to The Associated Press on Friday, saying Manziel is seeking a plea deal in his Texas domestic violence case involving his former girlfriend, whom he allegedly struck several times and threatened to kill.

For Manziel, who was charged with misdemeanor assault from the incident, a plea deal could spell the end of his alcohol and drug use. But Hinton wonders about the quarterback's ability to stay clean.

"Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle," he wrote in a text to The Associated Press.

The AP was trying to contact Hinton about a hit-and-run in which Manziel was involved Monday; he divulged more than anyone was expecting.

The text message also says Hinton was given a receipt that supposedly shows Manziel spent more than $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia shop 15 hours after the crash. Hinton could not confirm the paraphernalia allegation.
