Joe Montana has no issue with cheating, or at least going over the line once in a while.
“They always say, ‘if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying,’ “ Montana told NFL Network (via CBS Sports). “So they’re trying hard.”

The 49ers legend was referring to the New England Patriots, who face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in a rematch of the infamous AFC championship game.
Montana had the same philosophy as a player and admits the 49ers cheated during his career, adding he has no problem with Tom Brady if he did, in fact, break the rules.
“It is one of those things that is a rule, right? It might be a dumb rule, but it doesn’t matter,” Montana said. “He didn’t deflate them himself, but you can pick up the ball and can tell if it’s underinflated, overinflated or what you like. Everybody is afraid to say it, but if the guy did it, so what? Just pay up and move on. It’s no big deal."
