The Jets and Patriots enter Week 3 headed in opposite directions.
New England (2-0) has a pair of blowouts on the year, crushing Pittsburgh 33-3 and shutting out Miami 43-0. New York (0-2), meanwhile, has stumbled with a 17-16 loss to Buffalo and a 23-3 drubbing on Monday night against Cleveland.
Needless to say, the Patriots enter Sunday as heavy favorites to down the Jets.
Week 3 NFL PICKS:
Against the spread | Straight-up picks
In addition to the Jets' uninspiring losses to this point, New York is also operating under third-string quarterback Luke Falk, a 2018 sixth-round pick out of Washington State. With Sam Darnold out with mono, the Jets turned to Trevor Siemian in Week 2 against the Browns. Siemian, however, suffered a gruesome ankle injury in the first half and will miss the rest of the year. Falk is now the starter in New York for the foreseeable future.
So if there's any way that the Jets can slow down the Patriots offense and Falk can manufacture points against a defense that has yet to allow a touchdown in 2019, then we might have ourselves an AFC East battle. If not, this thing could get out of hand pretty quickly.
