Aside from the absence of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the biggest storyline at New York Jets mandatory minicamp this week is the absence of edge rusher Haason Reddick, who the team traded for earlier this offseason.
While it hasn't been confirmed, the belief is that Reddick is not in attendance because of his desire for a new contract. Whatever the case may be, the veteran pass-rusher, who is in a contract year, is getting fined for his unexcused absences.
Head coach Robert Saleh recently revealed that he has spoken to Reddick, but did not go into detail about his contract situation.
“I appreciated the dialogue," Saleh said. He’s in a really good place mentally, working his tail off like we already know, but he’s choosing to sit out, so it’s unexcused.”
“I’m not concerned about Haason Reddick," he added. "I understand everything that’s happening, but at the same time I know that when it comes time to play football, he’s gonna be ready to play football.”
For the first time since minicamp started, Reddick, who was also absent for the voluntary portion of the offseason program, broke his silence on the subject.
Stop believing the foolery y’all see on these social media apps and news outlets. Running crazy narratives and y’all eating it up.

Reddick's tweet would seem to indicate that his absence is not contract-related, since that has been the narrative going around. But he very easily could have cleared that up by expanding on his tweet.
Maybe he's hanging out with Rodgers?
