The Jets parted ways with quarterback Zach Wilson after three uninspiring years. New York traded Wilson as well as a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Broncos for a 2024 sixth-round pick. The two teams also agreed to split Wilson's remaining guaranteed salary.

The move came as a shock to many despite reports the Jets allowed Wilson to seek a trade this offseason. Wilson didn't enjoy much success with the Jets because of poor performances and injuries, and head coach Robert Saleh benched him at multiple points during each of the past two seasons. Now, he'll compete for a job in Denver.

New York, meanwhile, will move forward with Aaron Rodgers as the starter and Tyrod Taylor as his backup in 2024.

Jets fans happy with Zach Wilson trade

Jets fans were, unsurprisingly, relieved to hear the former No. 2 overall pick wouldn't suit up in the team's new uniforms this past season.

Broncos QB room after Wilson trade

Wilson went to the only team he has a legitimate chance to start by Week 1.

The Broncos' quarterback room of Jarrett Stidham and Ben NiDucci leaves much to be desired, although Denver could also add a quarterback in 2024 NFL Draft. Considering how early into the offseason teams still are, Wilson should have ample time to acclimate himself to head coach Sean Payton's offense and make a push for the starting job in 2024.

Wilson had lots of chances to do that in New York, though, and failed. Poor decisions, turnovers and injuries plagued his three seasons with the Jets which ultimately led the team to trade for Rodgers, bench Wilson and eventually ship him to Denver.
