Jets expand GM search, reportedly request more interviews image

The Jets' search for a new general manager has expanded.

According to NFL Media, which cited an unidentified source, the team has requested to interview George Paton and Scott Fitterer.

Paton, the assistant general manager of the Vikings, had previously been requested to interview during the Jets' GM search in 2013 and 2015. Fitterer, the co-director of player personnel of the Seahawks, interviewed for the vacant position in 2015.

The team also reportedly requested interviews with Eagles personnel chief Joe Douglas and Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly.

The Jets fired general manager Mike Maccagnan and vice president of player personnel Brian Heimerdinger in surprise moves earlier this month and appointed coach Adam Gase as interim GM.

Peyton Manning was rumored to be a candidate for the position considering he has ties with Gase, who coached with the Broncos from 2009-14, hinting the transition could be an easy one.

However, SNY later reported Manning becoming the next Jets GM is "unrealistic."
