When the Pittsburgh Steelers host the New York Jets in Week 7 of the 2024 season, the team's defense is going to have a little extra motivation thanks to running back Breece Hall.
Hall appeared on "The Pivot" podcast and was asked about his respect for defenses around the league, including the Steelers'. But Hall dismissed Pittsburgh's unit, with the third-year back saying he isn't "worried about them."
He then doubled down on that take, making it even worse.
"I already got them my rookie year, so I ain't worried about them," he said, before repeating his stance later in the episode. "I got to see the Steelers. I ain't worried about the Steelers."
The Jets and Steelers did not play last season but did meet in 2022, Hall's rookie year. The Jets running back didn't exactly put up big numbers, though, carrying the ball 17 times for 66 yards and a touchdown in the 24-20 Jets victory. He added two catches for 12 yards. Not exactly the definition of "got."
In 2022, the Steelers sported a top-10 defense against the run and in points allowed per game. Things got worse against the run in 2023, though, as Pittsburgh ranked 19th. However, the Steelers did improve their points allowed ranking to sixth.
There's reason to believe things will be even better for the Steelers in 2024 after the additions of Patrick Queen and Donte Jackson, both of whom will join a defense that, of course, includes studs like Cameron Heyward, T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Rest assured, those five and the rest of the Steelers' defense isn't going to forget what Hall said, making the Jets game one they circle on their calendar ahead of the upcoming season.
