Earlier this week, Jerry Jones said, "Tony (Romo) is our No. 1 quarterback." But the Cowboys owner's stance doesn't seem so black and white anymore.
Speaking to 105.3 The Fan on Friday during his weekly interview, Jones seemed more open to the idea of riding with rookie Dak Prescott at QB.
IYER: The case for Tony Romo
"I really don't know that I would look at it that way," Jones responded when asked if Prescott would earn the job if Dallas wins Sunday in Green Bay. "I look at it in two ways, how Dak is evolving, how it is evolving now, not necessarily in the future, but in the future, so all of those things come to play. But I would say that there is nothing simple about this."
Jones saying, "there is nothing simple about this" is a revealing statement from a man who previously made the situation sound simple. Now the eccentric owner appears willing to wait and see what happens.
"With the way Dak is playing, with the positives of him playing gives us every opportunity to feel good about our future," Jones said. "Just the flat reality of years gives you that. He's doing such an outstanding job, relatively speaking, to winning the ball games. All of those give us more ability to look at this thing and measure it as we go."

He also added "it's a great thing to have this issue" of having two good quarterbacks.
As for Romo, a Friday report claimed the QB would be healthy by either Week 8 or Week 9.
