Bears WR on Jay Cutler: 'He's the pretty girl that doesn't wear makeup' image

Chicago Bears receiver Kevin White didn't appreciate what Martellus Bennett said about Jay Cutler in a recent ESPN interview.

Bennett, who played with Cutler for three years and was a teammate of White's last season, said, "I'd be open and [Cutler would] throw into double coverage." Speaking to Sports Illustrated's Ben Baskin, White took exception to what Bennett had to say.

"Jay Cutler is a good person," he said. "He wants to win. He's a good teammate and he cares a lot. He is not selfish at all. Any selfish quarterback would have told me to come back and play [at the end of the season], even at 75 percent. He's just a great guy. We need to clean Jay's name up. He has a bad rep for no reason and I don't like it. I came in and everyone was telling me, Jay's an asshole, you're going to hate Cutler. I was like, I want to get to know this dude first. And it's just not true at all. None of it. Jay is like the pretty girl that doesn't wear makeup and doesn't go out, so nobody really know that she's pretty."

As for Cutler, he took the high road in all of this, saying Wednesday, "Most receivers and tight ends (think they) are always open. Hopefully Tom (Brady) can do a better job of finding him than I did."

Cutler has been criticized numerous times about his personality and attitude, but certain teammates have come to his defense.
