With Jay Cutler sidelined with a sprained right thumb, backup quarterback Brian Hoyer came in and threw for 300 yards in his first four starts before getting hurt, himself. But before Hoyer's injury, coach John Fox was asked what his plan would be once Cutler was healthy.
"We don't have a plan," Fox responded.

Cutler healed up with perfect timing, as Hoyer was placed on injured reserve after breaking his forearm last week. Obviously that puts Cutler back in the starting role, and Fox would like to have you believe that was his intention the entire time.
"Jay kind of knew all along what our plan was, and that’s the important thing," Fox said Tuesday.
Yes, this is the same man who said just a few weeks ago there was no plan. It's easy to see right through Fox's words, and even Cutler acknowledged it.
"He doesn’t have a choice, I guess, at this point,” Cutler said about Fox, via the Chicago Tribune. "Brian is out, so I’ve got to go. I’ve had good conversations with Foxy this week, last week, the week before. There’s never been any strain in our relationship. We’re both very open and honest, and we’re on the same page. We just want to win football games."

At the very least, it seemed obvious there would have been a debate about which quarterback should start. The situation just happened to work itself out naturally with Fox never having to make a decision.
But for Fox to make it sound like he wasn't playing coy to begin with is just an insult to everybody.
