Jason Witten: This year's Cowboys might have the 'most talent I've seen' image

Jason Witten is confident in the abilities of Dallas' team this year.

The Cowboys tight end raved about the talent of the group Friday and said it have the "most talent" he's seen, despite having shared a locker room with all-time greats.

“Yeah, I think it’s close,” Witten told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “The most talent I’ve seen.”

Witten left retirement and a broadcasting job with ESPN earlier this year to return to the NFL. The 15-year veteran has played alongside stars like Terrell Owens, DeMarcus Ware and Dez Bryant during his lengthy career, but believes the players surrounding him now have plenty of potential.

After all, the Cowboys have two-time rushing leader Ezekiel Elliott, three-time Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper and elite pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence, with 2016 Rookie of the Year Dak Prescott under center. Witten wants the young core to know that the future is in their hands.

“It was important for me to reiterate to them early on that this is their team, it’s their time. It’s an opportunity for me to be a part of it," Witten said.

All in all, having Witten in the fold already seems to be yielding positive results.

“Just a good guy – great guy to be around, great guy to have in the locker room,” Prescott told reporters. “And I know he’s excited about the direction we’re going in. It’s only going to make this team and this organization better.”

Dallas posted a 10-6 record and won the NFC East last year but fell to the Rams in the second round of the playoffs. Now the Cowboys are looking to take the next step in the postseason.
