Sunday will be Pierre-Paul's first game since blasting off one of his fingers and suffering extensive damage to another during a fireworks accident over Fourth of July weekend.
Some feared the injuries Pierre-Paul sustained could have cost him his career, but the Giants were happy enough with the way he looked in practice this week to let him give it a go and help their pass rush against Tampa Bay.
Linebacker Jon Beason has been placed on injured reserve with knee and ankle injuries to make room for Pierre-Paul on the active roster.
Pierre-Paul had 53 tackles, 12.5 sacks and six passes deflected last season.
