The Los Angeles Rams may have found their next superstar up front in Jared Verse, who steps in to fill the void left behind by Aaron Donald's retirement.
Despite his ability to start right away on one of the top team's in the NFL, Verse finds himself tied for third place in the betting odds for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
On Draft Kings Sportsbook, Verse is tied with Eagles' cornerback Quinyon Mitchell at +1100 odds for the prestigious award. Vikings' pass rusher Dallas Turner is in first place at +400, while Colts' pass rusher Laiatu Latu sits in second at +550.
Verse will be the key player that the Rams' defensive front will revolve around. His ability to play in multiple roles on all three downs will give new defensive coordinator Chris Shula a weapon to create opportunities for both Verse and other Rams' defenders to capitalize on.
If Verse were to take home the award, he would be the first Rams' rookie to win either award since Todd Gurley in 2015. Donald won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2014. Verse winning the same award a decade later would be a significant step in the right direction to replacing Donald.
