Body-shamed Jameis Winston vows to get in shape, become 'quicker' image

Jameis Winston came under fire last year when pictures emerged of him practicing shirtless with a bit of a gut hanging over his shorts.

After a solid rookie season, the Buccaneers quarterback was invited to the Pro Bowl. There he saw other stars and noticed how fit they were.

"The most important thing I learned is I have to get my body in shape, because those men look good. Not just the other quarterbacks — everyone," Winston told Sports Illustrated. "Their bodies look good.

"But also, Russell Wilson’s preparation at the Pro Bowl. You know, it’s a relaxing event, and he is still doing everything the right way. He is the first one to the huddle, leading guys in stretches, running everywhere you go."

Winston still had a bit of a pooch at the Pro Bowl. He has since set goals for himself that should not only help him lose weight, but also to be a better quarterback in general.

"I want to work on my foot quickness. I believe I have good pocket presence, but you never can be too good with your feet, so I have to make sure my feet are quicker," Winston said. "Sometimes I get too wide in the pocket, and I need to keep my feet up under me and be a little smoother in the pocket. I need to improve everything, really, but I just have to get quicker."

This should lift Bucs fans' spirits after Tampa Bay's 10-loss season in 2015.
