Could Jadeveon Clowney take his talents to the bayou by Week 1?

According to reports, the Saints have sent an "all-out blitz" to try to get the star defensive end in a New Orleans uniform come Week 1 of the NFL season, with a decision coming as soon as Monday.

The Titans, who have been linked to Clowney this offseason, also are pushing to make Clowney a member of their defensive line.

For New Orleans, a trio of Clowney, Cam Jordan and Marcus Davenport would certainly be among the game's top pass-rush corps. The Titans, known for their stout defense under head coach Mike Vrabel, would also help alleviate the pass rush burden for third-year man Harold Landry. Alongside Landry, Clowney would also pair with Vic Beasley, another Tennessee signing this offseason.

The saga of Clowney this offseason has been confusing to watch unfold: Viewed as an elite run defender and an above-average pass rusher, Clowney has been attached to as many as six different teams, with the Browns, Jets, Eagles, Titans, Saints and Seahawks all rumored to be in on Clowney's services. He's coming off one of his worst statistical seasons, however, notching just three sacks in 13 games in 2019.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson made his desire to keep Clowney in the pacific northwest, publicly courting him this offseason. New Seahawks safety Jamal Adams also made it clear that he wanted Clowney to join up in a quest for a Super Bowl ring.

Clowney, 27, has 32 sacks in 75 games between the Texans and Seahawks, spending just a year in Seattle before hitting free agency. While many assumed Clowney would have been inundated with contract offers, he remains a free agent less than a week before the start of the NFL season. It seems the odyssey may be coming to an end.
