Jaguars draft picks 2022: When does Jacksonville pick? Full list of NFL Draft selections image

The Jaguars landed their franchise quarterback with the first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. Now it's about filling out the rest of the team.

Jacksonville still struggled in 2021 after landing Trevor Lawrence as it worked through a tumultuous coaching experience with Urban Meyer and lacked the pieces around Lawrence to help him succeed. The team finished the campaign 3-14 and again landed the first overall pick in the draft.

This year, the focus of the draft will be more about just getting the best players available. There are several holes the Jaguars and new head coach Doug Pederson need to fill, even after spending to upgrade its offensive line, wide receiver room and defense. And fortunately for the team, they have 12 draft picks with which to make picks.

Here's a look at the Jaguars picks in the 2022 NFL Draft:

Jaguars NFL draft needs

  • Offensive tackle: Signing Brandon Scherff is a big move to help protect Lawrence, who was sacked 32 times in his rookie season, but the tackle positions still need improving. They could opt to use the first overall pick to land one of the top OTs in the draft, or target one later with one of their 12 picks.
  • Defensive end: The Jaguars had the fifth-fewest sacks in the NFL a season ago, and while adding Arden Key will be an improvement alongside Josh Allen, they could use more players along the edge to free up Allen to move back to linebacker. This feels like a need they'll address early in the draft.
  • Linebacker: Jacksonville seems likely to draft Aidan Hutchinson with the first overall pick, which will help both the defensive end and linebacker positions as he has the versatility to play both. The Jaguars signed Foye Oluokon to join the linebacker room, but even if they draft Hutchinson, it wouldn't be surprising to see them use another pick or two to upgrade the position.
  • Safety: Andre Cisco showed promise at times during the 2021 season after being taken in the third round of last year's draft, and the Jaguars return Rayshawn Jenkins and Andrew Wingard, but none of them graded in the top 30 at the position, per PFF. This will be an area to target early in the draft.
  • Wide receiver: Jacksonville spent a lot signing Christian Kirk and Zay Jones to accompany Marvin Jones, Laviska Shenault and Laquon Treadwell. That's a crowded room, but the Jaguars could benefit further from bringing in an impact outside receiver in the draft that would be a steady long-term option for Lawrence.
