The Indianapolis Colts ruled out one player Friday ahead of the Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Head coach Shane Steichen told reporters after Friday's practice that safety Julian Blackmon was ruled out due to a shoulder injury.
Blackmon didn't practice all week after suffering an injury to the same shoulder that forced him to miss the final month of the 2023 season.
Steichen also mentioned that they don't think it's a long-term injury.
Colts injury updates
With Blackmon out for at least Sunday's game, the Colts are likely to roll with a safety duo of Nick Cross and Rodney Thomas II. Though, they could also bring up Rodney Harrison Jr. from the practice squad.
Steichen touched on the injury updates of a few other players as well.
Wide receiver Josh Downs (ankle), defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (back) and defensive end Kwity Paye (hamstring) are game-time decisions.
Meanwhile, kicker Matt Gay (hernia) will make his regular-season debut after undergoing surgery following the preseason.
The Colts will release their final injury report with designations later on Friday.
