The Indianapolis Colts continued to add to their secondary in the sixth round by using their No. 201 slot to select Marshall cornerback Micah Abraham.
He’s an undersized corner who projects to play as a nickel and brings plenty of ball production from the college level.
Here are three things to know about the new addition to the Indy secondary.
Colts select Micah Abraham in NFL Draft: 3 things to know
1. Micah Abraham’s high school career
Abraham attended East Lake High School in the Tampa Bay area where he was an All-Region player in football and was also a track athlete. Per 247Sports, he was a three-star recruit, the 2,117th-ranked recruit in his class, the 197th-best cornerback, and the 290th-best player in Florida.
He chose to play at Marshall over Boston College for his college career.
2. Micah Abraham’s Marshall career
He was an immediate contributor as a true freshman for Marshall. After beginning his college career as a safety, he moved to cornerback. Abraham ended up starting in seven of 13 games that year which led to him being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
In his sophomore season, he played in 10 games with one start which was the pandemic-shortened season so he was able to get an extra eligible year. Abraham took over as a full-time starter in the following three seasons.
In 2021 he was named to the Second Team All-Conference USA Team and led the conference in pass defenses (15). Abraham led the Sun Belt Conference in interceptions in his final two seasons and pass defenses in his Senior year.
He was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference First Team in his last two seasons at Marshall. Throughout his entire college career, Abraham collected 150 tackles, half a sack, a forced fumble, a blocked field goal, 12 interceptions, and set a school record with 55 pass defenses.
3. Micah Abraham’s NFL bloodlines
His father Donnie Abraham was a third-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent six seasons with the Bucs before he ended his career with the New York Jets in 2004. Abraham’s father was named to PFWA’s All-Rookie team, the co-leader in interceptions in the 1999 season, and earned Pro Bowl honors in 2000.
Donnie Abraham is currently the defensive coordinator for the Saint Louis Battlehawks in the UFL. His father isn’t the only family member that played in the NFL. His cousin Tim Jennings was also drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2006 and was a part of the Super Bowl XLI Champion team.
