After re-signing safety Julian Blackmon to a one-year deal, the Indianapolis Colts are not expected to make many major moves this offseason until the 2024 NFL Draft arrives.

The Colts focused much of their energy on retaining their own players in free agency. They dished out over $200 million in contracts to players who spent time with the team in 2023. A handful of them were key contributors to the roster.

Getting quarterback Anthony Richardson fully healthy is the main objective this offseason, but it was also vital to build around the young gunslinger.

Grading every offseason move the Colts made

WR Michael Pittman Jr.

Without a doubt, the most important piece to re-sign this offseason was Pittman. He gives the Colts a viable WR1 option to work with Richardson. He signed a three-year deal worth $70 million with $46 million guaranteed, which is a solid deal for both sides.

DT Grover Stewart

The other key piece to make sure the Colts brought back was Stewart. His absence in 2023 due to a suspension showed just how valuable he is to the run defense. Re-signing him to a three-year deal worth $39 million was necessary to ensure his return, fortifying the interior defensive line.

Grade: B+

CB Kenny Moore II

It was interesting to see if the Colts were going to bring Moore back or whether he'd find a contract elsewhere. In the end, the Colts made him the highest-paid slot defender in the NFL—a title that now belongs to Taron Johnson of the Buffalo Bills.

Grade: B+

QB Joe Flacco

One of the slightly surprising moves the Colts made was to sign Flacco to a one-year deal. Looking back, it makes perfect sense. He's a veteran who can help Richardson develop his game, and his penchant for throwing downfield makes him a solid fit in Shane Steichen's offense.

Grade: B

DT Raekwon Davis

While bringing Stewart back was a massive need, finding depth was the next objective. Davis should provide an upgrade from what the Colts had in 2023 in terms of depth even if one anonymous executive believes the Colts overpaid in free agency.

Grade: C+

DE Tyquan Lewis

There were few players more productive in a limited role than Lewis in 2023. He tied a career-high with 4.0 sacks while he posted career-high marks in tackles for loss (nine), quarterback hits (13) and total pressures (44).

Grade: B+

S Julian Blackmon

The reunion between the Colts and Blackmon was necessary considering the massive need at the safety position. If Blackmon can stay healthy, he should have the ability to build off what was a career year in 2023.

Grade: B

P Rigoberto Sanchez

The Colts needed a punter with Sanchez set to hit the market this offseason so why not bring him back. Coming off an Achilles injury, Sanchez posted a career-high 42.8 net yards per return on 68 punts. Remarkably, none of his punts resulted in a touchback while 21 of them landed inside the 20-yard line.

Grade: B

DT Taven Bryan

One of the surprises from the Colts included re-signing Bryan even if it was just for a one-year deal. He will provide depth at the three-technique, but he rarely moved the needle during the 2023 season with the Colts.
