Former Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Polian is joining the Cleveland Browns front office, according to multiple reports Monday.
Polian, the son of former Colts general manager Bill Polian, served in the team's front office for 14 years (1998-2011), mostly working under his father.
Polian is taking a job with the Browns in an unspecified role, first reported by Ben Standig of The Athletic.
Polian spent 14 years with the Colts starting as the director of pro scouting (1998-2000) before a promotion to assistant director of football operations (2001-2003).
He then was named the assistant general manager (2004) before another promotion to vice president of football operations (2005-2009), a role he held until his father was promoted to team president following the latter's tenure as general manager (1998-2009).
Polian was the vice president and general manager of the Colts for three seasons (2009-2011) before he was fired following the disastrous 2-14 campaign that led to Indy earning the No. 1 overall pick in 2012.
Since then, Polian worked as an executive scout with the Atlanta Falcons (2012) and the director of pro personnel with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013-2019) and Washington Commanders (2021-2023).
