Indianapolis Colts tight end Mo Alie-Cox enters the final year of his contract as the starter, but some believe he's a cut candidate ahead of the 2024 season.

After taking over as the starting tight end following Jack Doyle's retirement in 2022, Alie-Cox has failed to live up to expectations.

The former VCU basketball standout has always been a solid blocker, and his elite athleticism warranted upside as a receiver. However, he took a major step back during the 2023 season.

That, along with the potential salary-cap savings, are the reasons why Bleacher Report listed Alie-Cox as the team's biggest cut candidate in 2024.

Mo Alie-Cox is guaranteed zero dollars of his $5.92 million salary. Right now, he'll likely be the Colts' fourth-string tight end in 2024. Tough to see Indianapolis keeping him at that price.

Though they said Alie-Cox will be listed as the fourth-string tight end in 2024, he's played starter snaps over the last three seasons. That may change in 2024, of course but if he's on the roster, he's going to be in the rotation.

Alie-Cox recorded just 13 receptions for 161 yards and three touchdowns in 2023. His receptions and yards totals were the lowest of his career since 2019 when he was mostly a developmental player.

The Colts still have Kylen Granson and second-year tight end Will Mallory working as the H-backs while third-year player Jelani Woods is hoping to come back strong after missing the entire season due to nagging hamstring injuries.

We'll see if the Colts have any plans to move on from Alie-Cox so this will be something to keep an eye on down the road.
