He Said What? The best quotes from Week 2 of the NFL season image

Following a surprising loss to the Jaguars, the Dolphins are left wondering what's wrong with their revamped defense. A big part of their offseason splurge was landing Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who has not been much of a factor through two games. There was also a report Sunday that Suh, who received a six-year, $114 million contract in March, ignored defensive play calls during the 23-20 loss in Jacksonville.

"There was a report that Ndamukong Suh was freelancing out there on the field," Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said Monday. "I just watched the entire tape with the entire defensive staff. I didn't see anything of the sort. So I'm not sure where that came from."

Suh has just three tackles and zero sacks through two games, but he isn't concerned. Suh said it's about the team performance and not individual numbers.

"I don’t count statistics, I just play ball," Suh told reporters Sunday

What others around the NFL are saying:

— Bills coach Rex Ryan doubled down Monday on his Sunday comment that Patriots coach Bill Belichick outcoached him in New England's 40-32 win. He also talked about having 14 penalties in the "embarrassing" loss that was a blowout for most of the game. "Took a lot of penalties and getting scorched the way we did . . . that's pretty embarrassing," Ryan said. "It was embarrassing but it doesn't mean it's going to be embarrassing the rest of the season.

"There's a difference between being aggressive and being foolish. The second guy in gets the flag. That's what we have to get smarter at. The blocking in the back is killing us. We've got to learn from it.

"They outcoached us, outplayed us, everything. I've never given up that many yards in my life. Maybe two games combined. Will it sting? Yes. Will I remember it? Sure."

— The Steelers lead the NFL in total offense and have running back Le'Veon Bell back after a two-game suspension. "I expect us to go out there and put up crazy numbers," Bell said. "I know what type of playmakers we’ve got . . . the best quarterback in the league, best receiver in the league."

— 49ers safety Antoine Bethea following the 43-18 loss to the Steelers: “We’ve had one great win and one horrible loss. The good thing about it (is) we’ve got a game next week. It’s only our second game, and (we) have 14 left, so no need to panic.”

— Saints coach Sean Payton on starting 0-2: "There will be some setbacks but we have to correct some of these things that are hurting us very quickly. From a grand scheme of things, we have this roster right now and you know Clark Kent is not walking through the door."

— Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Sunday he was "frustrated" by quarterback Eli Manning, but said Monday that with the Redskins up next on Thursday, the Giants can't dwell on Sunday's disappointing loss to the Falcons. "Sooner or later, we just have to settle down and play the way we’re capable of playing when the game is on the line," Coughlin said. "I don’t know how to say it any more simpler."

— Eagles coach Chip Kelly on Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Cowboys: "I was embarrassed. That’s not the way we’re supposed to play football and that’s not what we’re all about. We didn’t play well and I was embarrassed the way we played. . . . I feel like it can be fixed. We’ve had a couple of games here when we haven’t run the ball well and we rectified that. We didn’t run the ball well a year ago against San Francisco. That was a game that sort of stood out, but we straightened things out as we went along. A lot of it comes down to fundamentals, the blocking, throwing and catching aspect of it."

— Colts quarterback Andrew Luck on the offensive struggles through two weeks: "We just keep trucking along, keep working and try to get a breakthrough. We'll just keep our heads down and keep trucking. What we've got to do is go out and try to find a way to get a win. Guys have worked their butts off to make sure we're all on the same page, but we're not necessarily a perfect, well-oiled machine right now. We have a fair bit of improvement to make."
