The Jets are entering Week 3 with seven sacks as a team. That mark is tied with a plethora of teams for the third-most in the league in the early goings of the season.
That has all come without their star edge rusher they acquired this offseason to wrap up the opposing quarterback — Haason Reddick.
New York's defense continues to be missing a key piece as the pass rusher extends his holdout into the regular season. Reddick did not suit up for either of the first two Jets games for the year, and it does not appear as though he will be playing for the organization anytime soon.

Here's what you need to know about Reddick's absence and when he could return for the Jets.
Where is Haason Reddick?
Reddick continues to hold out in hopes of a new contract with the Jets — despite not playing a single game for the organization.
The edge rusher spent the entire summer away from the practice field as he demanded a new deal from the club. In early August, he went as far to request a trade away from the club that had recently acquired him.
However, the New York organization released a statement stating they would not move the veteran pass-rusher.
"We have informed Haason that we will not trade him," GM Joe Douglas said after the request.
While plenty of holdouts and hold-ins around the NFL resulted in new deals, Reddick was not one of them. The start of the season came and went without an agreed extension in place, and as a result, Reddick has yet to play for the Jets in 2024.
When the Jets held an introductory press conference for Reddick in April, New York reportedly told him at the time that it was the franchise's preference to discuss a new contract either during the season or after it. All indications are the club wanted to see Reddick perform on the field before making a long-term commitment.
As long as Reddick continues to hold out, it does not appear as though the Jets are willing to extend him, leaving the two at a stalemate.

The Jets sent the Eagles a conditional 2026 third-round pick for Reddick this offseason.
If Reddick plays more than 67.5 percent of defensive snaps and records at least 10 sacks, that third-round pick can slide up to the second round. If he keeps up this pace of playing in zero games, that won't happen, of course.

The Jets were set to take on the remaining $14.5 million on Reddick's three-year, $45 million contract, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported after the trade.
However, as long as Reddick is away from the team, he will continue to lose game checks.
