If the account of a former NFL kicker is true, one of the NFL’s most infamous coaches may have been a part of shady practices way before he was caught.
Former Bills kicker Steve Christie says he was told that then-Titans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams knew Buffalo's plays when the two teams played in 2000.

“Gregg Williams told me he had a coach in our training camp who knew all of our plays and all of our blocking schemes. We beat ‘em — karma — but he had someone in our training camp get all of our plays,” Christie told The Buffalo News. “I hope it doesn’t get him in trouble. He can just deny it and say I made it up. I was pissed. I said, ‘Gregg, that sucks.’ They knocked me out.”
The game Christie alluded to was the Bills season opener against the Titans to begin the 2000 season, which the Bills won 16-13. That game came just months after the "Music City Miracle."
Ironically, Williams later became the Bills head coach before going on to infamy as the Saints defensive coordinator behind “Bountygate."
“I had no idea about that. If he got some information on what Buffalo would be running, I don’t know if he told the players. He might’ve told the coaches,” ex-Titans safety Blaine Bishop said of Williams, now the Rams defensive coordinator. “But I wouldn’t be shocked if he had someone do that with all the Bountygate and that craziness.”
