Giants coach Pat Shurmur responded to the recent criticism from Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., ultimately shutting down the negative talk around Daniel Jones and New York's trade sending Beckham to Cleveland.

"Quite frankly, on our list of issues of the day, it really doesn't matter what Odell or Baker say," Shurmur told reporters Tuesday (per SNY). "There's many other things that we should probably be discussing. ... we wish him well. It was a trade. We said that all along. I wouldn't comment on what he feels about the situation."

Shurmur's comments come shortly after Beckham opened up about his trade in a Sports Illustrated piece, claiming the Giants sent him to the Browns to watch his career die and that it was a personal decision rather than business.

Mayfield, on the other hand, said in a wide-ranging interview with GQ that he was mind blown that New York selected Jones with the sixth pick in the 2019 draft. Mayfield said: "Some people overthink. That's where people go wrong. They forget you've gotta win."

"That's not original commentary, is it? ...  I know [Jones] is a winner. Don’t confuse calm and composed for a guy who is competitive and a winner." Shurmur said (via USA Today ) while adding that Mayfield is "in a long line of people that criticized" the Giants selecting Jones in the first round of April's draft.

Jones also responded to Mayfield's comments, saying he's trying not to listen to the criticism and that the remarks came "a little bit" out of left field.

"I'm focused on what I'm doing here," Jones said.

The Browns and Giants don’t play each other this season, but the two franchises will meet in 2020 at MetLife Stadium.
