Giants' Jon Beason says Alex Boone's 'coward move' led to concussion image

Giants linebacker Jon Beason suffered a concussion during the Week 5 matchup against the 49ers, something he blames solely on San Francisco guard Alex Boone.

Beason said Boone illegally pushed him in the back, which resulted in him colliding head-first with 49ers running back Carlos Hyde.

“I can honestly say that if I hadn’t gotten pushed in the back, I wouldn’t have been concussed. It’s unfortunate when another player, Alex Boone to be exact, can reach out, grab you from behind and then deliberately push you in the back,” Beason said, via the Daily News .

“It’s hard enough to stay healthy in this league. I think it was a coward move. Doesn’t show any sportsmanship, no regard for another player, their career. It could have been a lot worse. So it is what it is. I never saw Hyde, because I was too busy trying to keep my balance from being pushed from behind. So I wanted to get that out there. I hope it goes back to him.”

Beason was sidelined for the rest of the game and returned to practice Friday in a limited role. He believes that his concussion is relatively mild, though no word has been released if he will play against the Eagles Sunday.

“It’s your head. It’s not a tough-guy injury,” Beason said. “The doctors basically told me that the tests are (designed) to try to catch guys in lies, because back in the day, it was more so ‘Hey, you’re dinged, you’re going back in. How many fingers am I holding up?’ So I was coherent right away and then I found out, you know, you get back there and you start the protocol, I was never going back out. It’s just precautionary and it makes a lot of sense.”
