Ever since the New York Jets landed Aaron Rodgers, there has been no shortage of rumors and speculation about Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams ending up there eventually.
And it's not like the players themselves haven't thrown fuel on that fire. Adams has admitted that Rodgers has been in his ear about a possible reunion down the road, and Rodgers himself said “I love Davante. I can’t wait to play with him again” while he walked the course at a celebrity golf tournament this week.
With all the rumors and speculation swirling around, the Jets' current No. 1 receiver, Garrett Wilson, was asked about the possibility of an elite receiver joining him in New York. He made it quite clear he's all for it.
“I see that. I’m excited. I’m with all of it,” Wilson said, according to the New York Post. “Anyone we can get into the facility to help this team win games, I’m with it and he’s one of those.”
Adams would obviously be a massive addition to New York's offense and would instantly give the Jets arguably the best one-two punch at wide receiver in the NFL when combined with Wilson, who has tallied 2,145 receiving yards over two seasons despite all the issues the Jets have had at quarterback.
The roadblock in a Rodgers-Adams reunion is the fact that the Raiders would have to want to trade him.
The chances of that happening during the 2024 season aren't great considering the Raiders figure to be competitive and are unlikely to be out of playoff contention by the trade deadline, thus they won't be motivated to trade one of their best players.
That could change after this season if the Raiders fail to make the playoffs. Adams doesn't have any guaranteed money left on the final two years of his deal after this one and Las Vegas would have to seriously consider unloading him before he declines.
