Through the first two years of Arthur Smith's tenure with the Atlanta Falcons, one of the fan favorites was 2021 seventh-round wide receiver from Arizona State, Frank Darby. His ability to keep a smile on his face throughout the tumultuous times of the Falcons offense, more specifically the passing game, gave fans something to look forward to during the offseason. Unfortunately, Darby couldn't do enough to find the field and was relegated to the practice squad and bounced from there to the active roster until he was ultimately released in January.
Now, Darby gets a second chance, and this time with a clear-cut Super Bowl contender. According to Adam Schefter, Darby signed a one-year contract to join the San Francisco 49ers as they continue to sort out their wide receiver room for what appears to be their final push at a Super Bowl. Darby hasn't panned out to be the deep-threat receiver he appeared to be when he left Tempe, but Darby will always bring energy and a swagger to a locker room that is ultimately unmatched.
