It has been quite the year for former Detroit Lions quarterback, Adrian Martinez, who was easily one of the biggest standouts in the United Football League in 2024 after an impressive season with the Birmingham Stallions.
Not only did the Stallions win the UFL Championship Game on Sunday over the San Antonio Brahmas, 25-0, Martinez was also named the game's Most Valuable Player. That honor comes on the heels of Martinez also winning the league's MVP award, along with being named to the All-UFL Team.
In the championship game, Martinez scored a total of three touchdowns, including two on the ground and one through the air. He also threw for 98 yards and ran for another 52.
During the regular season, Martinez ranked No. 2 in total offense (2,277 yards) and finished with 18 total touchdowns (15 passing, three rushing), tied for the most in the UFL. His four touchdown passes in Week 6 and five total touchdowns in Week 8 are both league records. He was also the only UFL quarterback to record two 300-yard passing games, with his 369-yard showing being the highest mark in the league.

Martinez was just as dangerous on the ground as he was through the air. The Kansas State product led the entire league in rushing (528 yards) and he was responsible for one of only seven 100-yard games throughout the year. His 138 rushing yards in Week 5 was the second-highest total in a game during the UFL campaign.
Martinez was signed by the Lions after going undrafted in 2023. However, his stint in Detroit didn't last long, as he was waived in August of the same year. We'll see if he can turn his impressive UFL season into another NFL opportunity.
