Former Detroit Lions and current Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs was recently arrested for a second time this offseason and the disturbing allegations against him have come to light.
Buggs, who turned himself in to authorities on May 30 on two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree domestic violence on Sunday, June 16.
Per Lukas Weese of The Athletic, who cites Tuscaloosa district court documents filed on Monday, Buggs allegedly dragged the mother of his child down the stairs of her apartment after breaking in.
On June 16, Buggs allegedly entered the apartment of Yamya Johnson “unlawfully” and with the “intent to commit a crime,” according to the documents. According to police, Buggs broke into the apartment with a tire iron and dragged Johnson down the stairs, causing “scratch marks” on her wrists. Buggs then left the apartment, according to the court documents.
Buggs was booked early Sunday morning and later released on $5,000 bond, per the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's office. The Chiefs have yet to comment on the allegations against their player.
Buggs is also facing the two counts of animal cruelty after he allegedly neglected two dogs, one of which had to be euthanized. Buggs has since denied those allegations through a statement from his attorney.
