Fantasy QB Rankings Week 7: Who to start, sit at quarterback in fantasy football image

We've almost reached the halfway point of the fantasy football regular season as the weeks continue to fly by. The byes are making things tougher, though, and this is one of the rare weeks where quarterback is really affected. More than a few fantasy owners might need to hit the waiver wire in search of a sleeper, and our Week 7 fantasy QB rankings can help you navigate through the best streaming options.

We have a new No. 1 overall QB in our Week 7 rankings with Lamar Jackson (vs. Browns in Week 7), thanks in part to the Bills, Eagles, Vikings, and Rams being on bye. That takes away usual No. 1, Josh Allen, as well as top-four contender Jalen Hurts. Kirk Cousins and Matthew Stafford are typically low-end QB1s or top bench options, too.

In last week’s waiver wire watchlist, we highlighted a few QBs who fit the bill as viable streaming options thanks to favorable matchups. Chief among those signal callers were Jameis Winston (@ Cardinals), Kenny Pickett (@ Dolphins), and Jimmy Garoppolo (vs. Chiefs). Obviously, Winston (back) and Pickett (concussion) are iffy because of injuries, but the numbers suggest these passers can post a decent amount of fantasy points. Andy Dalton and Mitchell Trubisky might even have some deep-league appeal if Winston and Pickett can't go.

WEEK 7 STANDARD RANKINGS:
RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

If you're willing to dig a little deeper, Davis Mills (@ Raiders), Ryan Tannehill (vs. Colts), Matt Ryan (@ Titans), and Jacoby Brissett (@ Ravens) are also in favorable spots. The ceilings for all of those QBs are low because they all operate in run-heavy offenses, but expecting 230 yards and two TDs is reasonable given the matchups. Ryan is our favorite in that group, but that's not saying much.

WEEK 7 PPR RANKINGS:
RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

On the injury front, Miami’s Tua Tagoavailoa (concussion) will likely be back under center in Week 7 against the Steelers, while it’s a bit unclear whether Carson Wentz (finger), Mac Jones (ankle), Baker Mayfield (ankle), Winston (back), Trubisky (concussion), and Dak Prescott (thumb) will return. Prescott (@ Lions) would be a must-start given the matchup, but if he's out, add Cooper Rush to the sleeper list. (Update: Russell Wilson will miss Week 7.)

WEEK 7 FANTASY PICKS: Sleepers | Busts | Start 'em, sit 'em

Derek Carr (vs. Texans), Trevor Lawrence (vs. Giants), Jared Goff (@ Cowboys), and Wentz (vs. Packers) are the most notable bubble QBs we're worried about. (Update: Wentz will miss Week 7.) Carr always has upside, but an injury to Darren Waller (hamstring) and possible suspension to Davante Adams could send him tumbling down the rankings even further. We’d recommend not starting any of those QBs, but given the bye-week situation, we understand if you're forced to start one of them.

WEEK 7 DFS: Best values | Best stacks

Overall, this isn't a great week for quarterbacks. Some upper-tier guys have tough matchups (Patrick Mahomes @ 49ers, Kyler Murray vs. Saints), and as disappointing as they've been, you probably have to stick with veterans Aaron Rodgers (@ Commanders) and Tom Brady (@ Panthers) given their matchups and ceilings. With all the byes, injuries, and mediocre sleeper options, you can take solace in the fact that most owners are swimming in the same choppy waters.
