Fantasy QB Rankings Week 6: Who to start, sit at quarterback in fantasy football image

Whether you have a set-it-and-forget-it quarterback like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, or Lamar Jackson or need an injury/bye-week streamer, our Week 6 fantasy QB rankings aim to help you make the right start ‘em sit ‘em decision at fantasy football's highest-scoring position.

Right off the bat, our rankings are slightly impacted by the handful of QB injury situations. Entering Week 5, Tua Tagovailoa (head), Mac Jones (ankle), Jameis Winston (back), and Dak Prescott (thumb) were all ruled out with nagging injuries, while Teddy Bridgewater (head) got banged up during game action. Late-round rookies Skylar Thompson and Bailey Zappe filled in and might be in line to start in Week 6. At the moment, we still have Tagovailoa (vs. Vikings), Jones (@ Browns), and Winston (vs. Bengals) in our Week 6 rankings, but we'll continue to monitor their statuses as the week progresses. (UPDATE: Tagovailoa and Bridgewater are unlikely to play and have been removed from our rankings.)

Additionally, the four teams on bye in Week 6 (Raiders, Lions, Texans, and Titans) play a part in the change-up of rankings. Derek Carr is likely the only bye-week QB who might force fantasy owners in single-QB leagues to pivot to another option.

WEEK 6 PPR RANKINGS:
RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

In our waiver wire watchlist last week, we highlighted Jimmy Garoppolo (@ Falcons), Daniel Jones (vs. Ravens), and Justin Fields (vs. Commanders) as potential streaming options. Garoppolo gets a favorable matchup against a Falcons defense that gave up 420 total yards in Week 5, while Jones’ and Fields' running ability boosts their fantasy floors. Fields ran for 47 yards on eight rushing attempts while Jones added 37 rushing yards on 10 carries himself. They have both hit those benchmarks at least three weeks in a row.

WEEK 6 STANDARD RANKINGS:
RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers

A few other sleeper and streamer QBs for Week 6 include Carson Wentz (@ Bears), Geno Smith (vs. Cardinals), and Zach Wilson (@ Packers). Wentz gets to face a Bears defense that just got picked apart by Kirk Cousins (296 passing yards, TD), while Smith (268 passing yards, three TDs) and Wilson (210 yards) posted effective performances in back-to-back weeks. Wilson had the lowest fantasy floor and ceiling of all three QBs, but like Wentz and Smith, he has talented playmakers around him, which can lift him to a decent day.

WEEK 6 FANTASY PICKS: Sleepers | Busts | Start 'em, sit 'em

Some of the biggest risers include the aforementioned Jones, Fields, and Cousins, while Russell Wilson (@ Chargers) is the biggest faller after his dud of a performance last Thursday night. Wilson, who's also dealing with a shoulder injury, is still worth a start if you don’t have a better option, but given the Broncos' ineffectiveness on offense, he’s probably best left on benches. Trevor Lawrence (@ Colts) also put forth his first dud of 2022 but gets to face a Colts defense he shredded in Week 2.

WEEK 6 DFS LINEUPS: FanDuel | DraftKings

Ultimately, this looks like one of those weeks where you'll probably stick with your drafted starter even if he's been a disappointment like Wilson or Matthew Stafford (vs. Panthers). If you need a streamer, there are a few decent options, but expect a lower-scoring week than usual from this position.
